ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF LAW GUILDFORD

The University of Law Guildford is a modern university in an historic setting, and set within acres of parkland but only 40 minutes away from London by train. It is only 15 minutes from the centre of town which offers a wide choice of accommodation along with excellent local amenities.

Being a campus-based centre, there’s a strong collegiate atmosphere. The café is an ideal meeting spot in between large group sessions and workshops. The centre has an impressive legal library, IT rooms and offers free on-site parking.

The local legal community fully supports a range of employability initiatives and many local firms come to the centre to give talks. Students have the opportunity to get involved in the local community and to take part in charity events as well as enjoying all the social and entertainment amenities that Guildford’s historic town offers.

OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY

Guildford’s town centre is just a short walk away and offers a vibrant commercial high street, buzzing bars and restaurants, and many entertainment and arts venues. Being close to both London and the south coast, means that students can explore and enjoy the area with ease. Gatwick and Heathrow airports are both easily accessible for trips further afield.

A VARIED SPORTS AND SOCIAL LIFE

The University of Law Guildford offers you just the right balance of work and social life. Whether it’s an ongoing interest or trying something new, there’s a wide range of activities and clubs to get involved with. In recent years sports clubs and societies have included:

• Sports including: badminton, cricket, dance, dodgeball, football, golf, netball, rowing/sculling, rugby, skiing, squash, tennis and yoga

• Bar society

• Debating

• Drama

• Xenia society

The centre also has a long-standing commitment to team sports and we support training at local facilities for teams including rugby, football and netball. Added to that, all of our students are affiliated members of the Surrey University Students’ Union and can use their sports and social facilities.

Each year we hold annual events such as Freshers’ Week, a student ball and a quiz. At the end of your degree there will be a graduation ceremony which enables students to celebrate their hard work and achievements with friends, family and tutors.

STUDENT ASSOCIATION

The Student Association works in partnership with the university to influence, support and help you forge new relationships, whilst offering an essential service. It also helps to organise a whole array of clubs and societies for students, ranging from football and netball, through to yoga or trampolining, film & TV societies, debating clubs and human rights groups.
