Overview: We are a forward looking, friendly law department with a long and distinguished history, having opened in the 1960s.  We offer a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in current and developing aspects of law.

We are a research-focused department and believe that a research led learning experience enables our students to meet the challenges posed by the legal system. Our academics have strong research backgrounds and work closely with a large number of organisations to study and develop new and influential ideas.

At Kingston University you’ll focus on practical application of your legal studies, through mooting, client interviewing, negotiation and mediation.  In all of these areas we have achieved considerable success in national and international student competitions.  We have recently opened a pro bono Community Legal Advice Centre, in which you can gain hands on experience of advising clients on their legal problems.

These opportunities have already helped our alumni, many of whom have become barristers, senior partners within large law firms and judges.  Alumna Lika Diouf, who now works at the United Nations, was recently part of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize "for its work to draw attention to the catastrophic humanitarian consequences of any use of nuclear weapons and for its ground-breaking efforts to achieve a treaty-based prohibition of such weapons."
